mexican casserole

Happy Thanksgiving! I am updating this a little late.

I made a Mexican Casserole almost a week ago. It was delicious. Although, I didn't eat that much of it it was very easy to make and I loved it. So yum!

I got it off of this website. Which was obviously pinned on Pinterest. Anyway, super easy. Follow the instructions. I didn't do layers of cheese and just put it all on top and I wish I had.

Be looking for Christmas Crafts this week! Exciting!

cranberry margaritas

hello all.

Friday was the end of me finding recipes that I didn't love (count them: I only had one I had tried previous to this). I found a recipe on Pinterest for Cranberry Margaritas. Sounds yum and festive, no?

Epic Fail.

Number one because from the beginning of straining it into my mason jar (like the picture showed) it was way too light from the picture that was posted and number two whoever posted it must love strong drinks. My room-mate and his friend were able to drink them, but my girlfriend's and I were not able to even take a few sips without being fearful of growing hair on our chests. Which is very discouraging.

So, thank you Pinterest for proving to me that not all recipes, food or drink, am I obligated to try. We still have a love interest at this point. I did not take a picture, because quite frankly, I don't give a damn about this.

Take heed to not try every drink recipe.

Elmo cupcakes

So my nephew's 1st birthday party is this weekend so what I thought would be easy turned out to be very time consuming. 3 day project, mostly because I got tired of icing cupcakes after the 12th one so I had to finish them this morning. They turned out way cute. I got the Wilton #5 tip and 4 tubes of Wilton red decorating icing. A bag of Oreos and a bag of jet puffed marshmellows. I only used probably about ten or eleven Oreos and no telling how many marshmellows but I ripped them in half for the eyeballs. Then I got the smaller tube of black decorating icing also made by Wilton. It was very messy, but maybe I jut need more practice-- not to mention I'm a perfectionist. Haha. Anyway I'm so excited to take these to my sweet Dean! :) I'll have to add a picture later!!

Chocolate Chip Cookie N Oreo Brownie Bars

Tonight I made Chocolate Chip Cookie N Oreo Brownie Bars. Let's count the calories. It contains a Chocolate Chip cookie dough base, an entire pack of Double Stuff Oreos, a layer of Dulche de Leche (which I opted out of but only because I couldn't find any at HEB) all topped with a Ghiradelli Brownie Batter Mix. Delicious. I cannot wait to have another one. But here's what I learned, I would leave out the parchment paper and just use some Pam instead. It was hard spreading the Chocolate Chip Cookie dough along the bottom with parchment paper. Luckily, my room-mate is a chef and he was able to help me. Anyway, here's the blog that I got the recipe from....

SO WORTH IT!!

I'm always amazed about what the kitchen looks like before I start cooking/baking and what it looks like when I'm done. Usually cleaner then when I started. :)

here we go again..

So last week I was at A & K's * house and A showed me this website pinterest.com. Previously one of my other friend's, C* had shown it to me months and months ago, but like most things she shows me I tend to ignore (haha sorry..you know who you are) because usually its not something that interests me, but too bad she was right. I don't usually admit that and not usually this publicly either, but she was and she deserves all the credit, but A showed me the website AGAIN last week, well I'm thankful. But now, all I want to do is sit on Pinterest all day long. I thoroughly enjoy scrolling through all the different posts on there and enjoy reading all the captions and getting new ideas on life, which was starting to seem a little dull. So I thought I'd do a "Julia and Julie" type of thing and blog on all the things I try off of Pinterest. Clearly, I have too much time on my hands. But in my opinion, its better than sitting around just watching trash tv.

I've tried this blogging concept before and every time I promise myself I'm going to post often enough to make this not pointless (I'm sure someone wants my URL address anyway ;) ). I post maybe twice and that's it. But I think this time around, its better than the times before. Why? Because now my blogging has a purpose. To show you fools what I'm up to and what I've tried. Plus, you can laugh at how terrible it turns out. Because for now, I'm not crafty, but I'm hoping that old saying my mom used to say (who am I kidding, she still says it) will come to life: "practice makes perfect." It worked for drill team, anyway... And lucky for all of you, I already have lots of "to-do's" off of Pinterest....

So, here we go again and happy pinning! Who knows, maybe some of the things I try you'll wanna do. I find killer ideas. :) And of course, if you try something and think I can excel at it, by all means! Show me!
